Who surges ahead ? Science or Beliefs ?
We live in a society that, in a very dramatic manner with the evolution of science, has learned to ridicule the beliefs that our culture and religions have imbibed in our society. Everything that is followed under the head of customs is scrutinized from the very meagre principles and theories of science. Bizarre is the fact that 'science' which itself is based on certain assumptions is issuing writs on centuries-old customs and traditions. A question arises does science progresses only by bringing down religious beliefs? The answer is certainly not! All the eminent scientists acknowledge the limitations of Science. Problem is with, we the followers. Just because following rituals and beliefs require us to be more sincere and disciplined in our work and daily life, we tend to discard them in every possible manner. And science, since cannot justify all, becomes an institution that is brought in to legitimize such defiance.
Science and Religions are two disciplines that study our Nature in their own characteristic manner. Science focuses on the experimenting and getting new things out by dismantling the 'natural' way things exist and giving 'innovative' dimensions to it. Religion, on the other hand, is a discipline that tries to understand this nature through a perceptive approach: taking things as they are, sensing and experiencing the way nature exists. It understands the principles of nature and devises methods to keep society adhered to these principles. This is what Religion calls customs and rituals. To state one of the numerous cases: we are generally asked not to sleep in a north-south direction. Why? A scientific answer to this question was not possible until we discovered magnetism. If one sleeps in North-South direction, with head towards north, then the iron present in our bloodstream under the magnetic field gets accumulated in the uppermost part that is the brain, which may prove to be fatal sometimes.
Science a 400-year-old discipline is bound to remain at loggerheads with Beliefs for the next billions of years. And finally, both are bound to converge to the same point. But till then science would have done enough of irrevocable damage to our Mother Nature. The religion that has guided our society for centuries has actually helped in sustaining the beauty and charm of this world, whereas Science in its 4 or 5-century-long existence has plunged nature and social structure onto the verge of implosion and explosion.
'Science' is a Religion' that is interested in innovating new things out of this nature and thus disturbs the Order of Nature whereas 'Religion' is a Science that understands this nature and devises its rituals to accept and let perpetuate the way nature is. And even science will agree that Life will sustain only and only if Nature is not taken for granted, which actually is worshipped in religion.
